Natuurhuisje in Querença

Sitio do Lago is a 100 year old estate set in a peaceful and secluded valley in the foothills of the Serra de Caldeirao, around 30 minutes drive from Faro Airport. It covers 2 hectares and has a mixture of mature native trees such as ancient olives, carobs and holm oaks providing many shady areas to unwind in. With no light pollution in the area you can stargaze and enjoy galaxy and the shooting stars There are two apartments available, Coruja and Alfarroba. Each measures 40 m² and has separate covered decking areas with outdoor furniture to relax in the shade. The apartments are set up for two to four people and consist of a living room with a double sofabed, a double bedroom, a bathroom and a well equipped kitchenette. The units are well insulated with double glazing, aircon/heating and the whole estate is covered by high speed wifi. There is a large spring fed lake ideal for swimming and kayaking, plus a swimming poll of 8x3m. There are many areas to relax, read, dine and barbeque.

The immediate surroundings are part of a nature reserve “Fonte da Benemola” a beautiful protected area of undulating hills, trees and untouched nature with natural springs and mountain caves high above the river after a steep climb. The whole area near Querenca is on top of a large aquifer and there are many springs and also a museum in Querenca dedicated to water. In our area you can walk for hours on many dirt roads and paths without meeting another person. We are a five minutes walk away to the cross country trail of the Via Algarviana, and also 10 minutes drive to Rocha de Pena, well known for rockclimbing. The area is also renowned for its bird varieties and is an excellent place to base yourself for hiking or cycling the local trails, or exploring the villages and enjoying the local cuisine.
